Select the text then right click on say black in color pallet to outline your text can use any color then left click on the white X in the top of the color pallet to make the text color transparent.
This will remove the fill attribute and only leave the border. If you have little text the application expands it to fill the frame. An answer to the publication. It works fine for me -- been using that trick for ever it seems like.
